An age went by. The sons and daughters of the mountain dwellers grew old and had children of their own. Eventually, the day came when they descended from the forests in search of a new home in the fertile lowlands north of the mountains, leaving their former houses at the mercy of the elements.
But that happened centuries ago. Their customs had since evolved and adapted to the life in the meadows. Only the eldest members of the community still remembered the tales of their forefathers and just a few of them could still read the ancient scripts, for even their language had changed since the old days. At nights, the elders would gather the younglings together in order to tell them about the lore of their people, about their rituals and beliefs. According to legend, they had such a connection with nature that they could even communicate with it using the spoken word. Most of their ceremonies were devoted to Beorg, a solitary peak shaped like a human head lying face up, located in the easternmost part of the lowlands and visible from everywhere in the region.
Beyond the northern plains, a desert wasteland stretched for as far as the eye could see. It was from this barren land that a large group of foreigners arrived. A warlike and corrupt people, they were stronger, better armed and greater in number, and it did not take long for them to enslave the local inhabitants who had no choice but to work the land for them in exchange for food and a miserable life.
2. The Massacre of the Innocents
The situation became unbearable as the foreigners forced them to work until exhaustion, or even death. They became sick; their bodies tired, with yellowed skin and weathered hands, and their minds on the brink of collapse. The old and weak died, and the young did not want to bring new sons and daughters that would become slaves to the foreigners, so their number dropped considerably. No choice was left for them in order to survive but to escape.
They planned to do it at night, under cover of darkness on the following new moon. They would go through the southern gate and seek refuge in the forests beyond the plains. But, alas, one soldier spotted them as they opened the gate. He blew his horn and the guards atop the walls began to shoot arrows as the worn-out fugitives ran for their lives.
Nasty occult stoner doom. Those fuzzy riffs are awesome and the psychedelic vocals are insane. Put your headphones on, grab a bottle of beer and listen to this while you sacrifice your enemies. Sælzer Bub
For their previous effort Elk Witch took as to a "Mountain" this time they are showing us what lies beyond that mountain and what we find there is more superb The Sword like proto-doom flecked with a little blustering hard rock and metal FDJ (Desert Psychlist)
